The Gospel

John 3:19

"This is the judgment,

that the Light has come into the world,

and men loved the darkness rather than the Light,

for their deeds were evil."

The Gospel confirms what we already know about ourselves - we are far from perfect.

“There is none righteous, not even one;
There is none who understands,
There is none who seeks for God;
All have turned aside,
Together they have become useless;
There is none who does good,
There is not even one."

Romans 3:10-12

The Gospel says our biggest problem is not economics, race, job issues or poor marriages, but sin.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:23

The Gospel tells us that no amount of good works can erase our sin.

“By the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.”
Romans 3:20

But the Gospel also gives us good news (in fact, the word 'gospel' means good news).

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”
Romans 1:16

The Gospel says salvation is full & complete; sinners are made righteous by faith in Jesus Christ.

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Romans 5:1

How does salvation come? Through Jesus Christ alone.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
John 3:16

Sinners are dead because of their sins, but God makes sinners alive in Christ.

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you have been saved.”
Ephesians 2:4-5

So, how does a sinner actually receive this salvation? By trusting in Jesus Christ.

“…if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved….”
Romans 10:10

Take a step of faith now!

If you have never trusted Jesus Christ, then I urge you to trust Him right now.

There are no magic words to pray. You don't need a priest or minister to carry out some spiritual rite for you. You can, right now, turn away from your sin, commit your life to Jesus, and receive the gift of eternal life.
